Adam BROOKS Dudding is an acclaimed songwriter and seasoned guitarist originally from Dayton, OH who earned a B.F.A. in Creative Writing and Guitar Performance from Bowling Green State University in 1998. He’s been a performing songwriter and independent recording artist for well over 20 years and a wearer of many hats including band leader, producer, booking agent, promoter, tour manager/wrangler as well as full-time driver for multiple national tours.

Throughout college, Brooks continued to write, perform and record with Flying Blind – a regionally well-known fusion/jam band and re-incarnation of a rock band with high school friend, collaborator and virtuosic guitarist Dan Bruce. During this period of time he began re-examining his acoustic blues beginnings and decided to team up with another talented and locally well-known guitarist Tony Papa. Together they formed an energetic duo act that channeled Grisman/Garcia recordings and frequently garnered opening gigs for larger regional acts like ekoostik hookah and a young Railroad Earth.

In 2001, shortly after recording and releasing his first solo album Horizon – produced back home in Dayton at Refraze Studios with college friends and collaborators including drummer extraordinaire David Colvin (Heartless Bastards) – Brooks picked up and moved his musical operations to Columbus, OH. A guitar teacher by day he was moonlighting at night as the singer/songwriter front-man and founder of Americana ensemble Bucktown Kickback, a band that quickly formed a reputation for great live performances with the help of original members Alex Anest, Jay Donovan, David Blankestyn, Megan Palmer and Gary Puckett. Brooks co-produced the group’s 3 independent albums (Speakeasy, Lost In Your Own Hometown, fiction pickin’) and subsequent promotional tours as well.

In 2006, Brooks moved to Nashville, TN and began collaborating with talented artists on and off Music Row, forging songs with notable practitioners including Mark Irwin, Jon Pardi, AJ Masters, Mark BrinkmanChris Henry, Charlie PateAlison Clement, Leith Loftin, JR HammondJulie Meirick, David Oakleaf, Hollie Poole, Tim Panyard, Lewis Brice and many more. After landing a job at the world famous Bluebird Cafe – legendary venue where songwriters perform and are “discovered” – he met many of his songwriting heroes and was able to listen and learn from Music City’s best on a nightly basis.

In 2012, Brooks’ music began attracting an international audience after spending nearly a year in Shanghai, China where he maintained a vigorous schedule of weekly performances with Inner Mongolian mandolin virtuoso Tom Pang. Upon meeting, the two formed a strong musical bond and began collaborating almost immediately. Shortly after they formed The Shanghai Newgrass Project, their studio debut In The Moment  was recorded. Mutual friends, fellow collaborators and international musicians contributed to the recording including Charles Butler, Hanneke Cassel, Shun Hu and Jasmine Chen.

Brooks and his family now reside in central NY where he’s teaching Folk Guitar at Hamilton College, writing and recording new material and performing weekly at venues throughout the area as a solo artist, with a small acoustic ensemble or occasionally with his renegade rock’n’roll band. No matter what particular lineup the venue wants The Ramblin’ Brooks leaves audiences wanting more!

In December of 2016, Brooks’ brought in his hard-hitting, jam-friendly rock’n’roll 5-piece to record at SubCat Studios in Syracuse, NY with the illustrious Jeremy Johnston at the helm. The group consisted of band members Brendan O’Connor and Alex Lavon from regional darlings Rabbit in the Rye as well as Colin Nevison and Zach Collins from Same Blood Folk/Son Bully. Joining forces, they recorded 4 newer original songs by Brooks and an older, previously un-recorded rockabilly gem written during his time in Nashville. 3 singles from that session have been mastered by engineering ace Patrick MacDougall and released online, soon to re-appear on The Ramblin’ Brooks upcoming debut EP.

Currently, Brooks is booking select performances to help promote his newest studio recordings and entertain live music fans longing to move, groove and be moved.
